We have been selling this product for over five years. The most popular colour for fireplace lighting is 3000K (Warm White). Ninety percent of people choose 3000K, but for some more modern designs customers choose 4000K (Cool White).
JLEDS is a small business taking pride to produce and deliver quickly each kit that is ordered. We offer a two-year guarantee and greatly appreciate your support. We are available Mon-Fri 9-5pm via email or phone to help answer any pre-purchase or installation questions.
Frequently asked questions
The best position for our LED strip is shining downwards. It’s usually fitted either at the front or back. Wherever selected, please ensure the temperature where the LED strip will live will not exceed the 100°C (212°F) limit. This can be checked using a thermometer.
How to establish what length of strip you require:
1) Measure the width of the fireplace.
2) Our example is 1250mm (1.25M) wide. We will build the strip so it is 1100mm (1.1M) in length. This leaves a healthy gap at each end for the cable to bend and to help eliminate shadows.
3) The strip must not be bent on the sides, as that will cause a weak point, which will cause short life. Plus it tends not to look very attractive if you see LED chips at the corner of your eye.
4) If we keep the strip completely flat it will produce the best results.
Dos and don’ts
The strip must not be bent. If you place the strip like this you run the risk of short life.
No need to have the strip on the sides. It is bright enough to illuminate just from the top.
In some instances the strip looks better on the floor. This is also fine.

This strip is used in environments where the temperature can reach up to 100°C (212°F) so it can only be fixed using Fixing Clips and Screws. There is no adhesive on this strip, it would come off in the heat. The Fixing Clips are made from silicon, same as the tubing, and also Heat Resistant to 100°C (212°F).
The cabling and end caps which are attached to the LED strip are also Heat Resistant to 100°C (212°F).
LED strips are low voltage products, you must use the power supply (transformer). Please do not connect the LED strip directly to a AC 110V or AC 220V source, otherwise it will burn out the LED strips beyond further use.
Choose from 2700K, 3000K, 4000K, 6000K and Colour Changing (RGBW). For a fireplace surround 3000K (Warm white) is by far the most popular choice. 80% of customers choose that colour, 15% Colour Changing leaving 5% the rest.
At the end of the strip we solder on a length of Heat Resistant Cable, which connects to an externally fitted LED Driver, rated 24V.
JLEDS can supply up to 3M in length. The cable is either carefully fed from the front of the fireplace around the side, or in some instances people drill through the side of the fireplace. For single colour LED strip if you drill a hole using a 5mm drill bit the cable will fit through. RGBW cable is thicker, drill using a 10mm bit.
Most certainly. We believe the answer is yes. It’s advisable because the strip is very bright at 830lm per metre. Standard strip is only 400lm so it’s double the lumen output. Most people want an ambient appearance in their fireplace, and not a lighthouse effect, hence the need for a dimming solution.
This kit has everything included to allow dimming.
